Read-me notes on Refunds Process
Please note the following important points when requesting a ticket cancellation / refund:
- Because you got tax relief on your ticket refunds can't be arrange directly with the operator. TravelHub also cannot refund employees directly. TravelHub process the refunds, if possible, and credit your Employer.
- Ticket refunds are only effective from the 1st day of the month of the refund. Refunds are not processed for mid month.
- There are no refunds on monthly tickets.
- The deadline for refunds is the 20th of the month for a refund from date of the 1st of the following month.
- If you request a ticket refund and continue to use your ticket after the 1st of the month you will be charged for the full month and your refund will be calculated from the following month.
- Booking fees are not refundable.
- Please allow up to 6 weeks for processing of cancellations and subsequent refunds from the date the refund will be effective from. This is the time it takes the operators to process refunds and TravelHub have no control over this.
- In most cases your Company will continue to deduct your salary with your repayments until the Operator confirms the refund with a credit note, at which point they may do a final deduction or refund.
How to apply for a refund
Login at www.travelhub.ie and click Refundable Tickets on the menu on the left.
You will see a list of any orders that are refundable, with a Refund button.
You won't see your order if:
- Your company does not allow refunds. In this case the refunds page will list your company's refunds policy as Never.
- A refund is not available because (a) the operator doesn't offer refunds; or (b) if there are only a few months left; the value of the refund would be less than the operator's refund fee. See the Operators' Policies below.
When you click request refund you will see the months that are available for the refund from date. Select one and submit. We'll email a confirmation, unless these notifications are disabled for your account.
Operator Refund Policies
We have listed the operators' refund policies below. Please note that these are estimates and are subject the change by the operators at no notice. We do not provide estimates of refunds for this reason.
We will confirm the value in a credit note to the Employer when we receive the value from the operator.
Luas tickets
Luas tickets combined with Bus and/or Rail are issued by the bus or rail operators. See the sections below.
Refund = (ticket cost * unused months / 12) - €12
Irish Rail, Dublin Bus - Go Ahead, Bus Eireann - Go Ahead (including combination Rail + Luas and Rail + Bus tickets)
These operators charge 10% of the annual ticket cost for every month used and refund the balance.
Refund = ticket cost - (ticket cost * months used / 10)
Ashbourne Connect
There are no refunds on monthly, 3 monthly and basic annual tickets.
There is a premium annual ticket which can be refunded with no fees.
Matthews coaches, Wexford Bus
Refund = 0.9 * (ticket cost * unused months / 12)
Swords Express, Fingal Express
There are annual tickets that last for 12 months and annual flexi coupon tickets that have 200 coupons that can be used within 12 months.
Annual tickets: Refund = 0.9 * (ticket cost * unused months / 12)
Annual 200 coupon flexi tickets: Refund = 0.9 * (ticket cost * no of unused coupons / 200).
The deadline for applying for a refund (if available for your company) will be the 20th of the penultimate month of your ticket. e.g. if your 200 coupons are valid from 1 Jan to 31 December if you want a refund apply before 20 November.
Collins coaches, Kearns Transport
Refund = ticket cost * unused months / 12
If your ticket is not on a Personalised Leap Card and is on a card issued by the Operator then in addition to applying for the refund on www.travelhub.ie you will also need to post your existing ticket by registered mail to TravelHub, 175 Ivy Exchange, Granby Place, Parnell Square West, Dublin, D01 Y070, Ireland. Please email us the tracking number to info@hubex.ie. If we do not receive the ticket back before the end of the month the operator may charge you for the following month.
Cross River Ferries, Carolan Coach Hire
Once tickets are issued these operators will not refund them under any circumstances.
